Cypress Hill

Under the balmy July sky at Murcia’s historic Plaza de Toros, Cypress Hill delivered a heavy, hypnotic set that turned the bullring into a seething temple of hip hop. The West Coast legends came armed with three decades of stoner anthems, political fire, and unstoppable stage presence – and the packed crowd lapped up every ounce.

From the moment B-Real and Sen Dog stormed the stage with “I Ain’t Goin’ Out Like That”, their chemistry was electric – switching between B-Real’s nasal, machine-gun flow and Sen Dog’s gravelly bark with the precision of a band still at the top of their game. DJ Lord (stepping in seamlessly for the late, great Muggs) kept the energy surging with turntable wizardry, teasing classic funk and soul breaks before dropping into “When The Shit Goes Down” and the timeless “Insane in the Brain”.

As clouds of herbal aroma drifted above the crowd, the set leaned hard into their stoner rap legacy – “Hits from the Bong”and “Dr. Greenthumb” became full-on singalongs, with thousands of voices echoing back the hooks. But there was muscle too: “How I Could Just Kill a Man” and “(Rock) Superstar” hit like haymakers, proving Cypress Hill are as vital and confrontational as ever.

With the Plaza’s stone arches lit in hazy greens and purples, the visuals amplified the trip – a perfect backdrop for their psychedelic, boom-bap grooves. By the time the final bass thump faded, the Murcia crowd was a sweaty, euphoric mass, buzzing from a show that was equal parts nostalgia and pure, living energy.

Cypress Hill didn’t just play Murcia – they owned it. A masterclass in how to keep the fire burning 30 years on.
