From Big Band Sounds To Sunday Serenades, Carcaixent's Favourite Cultural Hub Has Something For Everyone

If you're looking for proof that some of the most exciting live music experiences happen outside the big cities, look no further than El Café de la Plaça in Carcaixent.

This coming week, the much-loved venue will host two very different musical events that perfectly showcase the diversity and community spirit that have become its trademark under the guidance of owner Enric Casassús.

From the powerful ensemble sounds of El Combo de La Lira on Thursday evening to the romantic melodies of Piccola Serenata on Sunday lunchtime, music lovers are in for a treat.

THURSDAY: EL COMBO DE LA LIRA FEATURING ENRIC CASASSÚS

On Thursday 25 June at 20:30, El Café de la Plaça welcomes El Combo de La Lira, a talented ensemble drawn from the historic Lira Carcaixentina, under the direction of Felip Santandreu.

Featuring a line-up of accomplished local musicians alongside venue owner Enric Casassús himself, the group promises an evening filled with musical excellence, blending jazz, blues, swing, pop and contemporary sounds into a vibrant live performance.

With guitars, saxophones, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass and drums combining to create a rich and dynamic sound, audiences can expect a concert packed with energy, musicianship and plenty of surprises.

The event also highlights the important role that local music societies continue to play within Valencian culture, nurturing talent while bringing communities together through live performance.

Given the intimate setting of El Café de la Plaça, this promises to be a unique opportunity to experience a large ensemble performance up close and personal.

SUNDAY: PICCOLA SERENATA BRINGS THE PERFECT LUNCHTIME SOUNDTRACK

The music continues on Sunday 28 June at 12:30pm, when Piccola Serenata takes to the stage for what promises to be a wonderfully relaxed midday performance.

Specialising in boleros, tangos, habaneras and timeless traditional songs, the group offers a musical journey through some of the most beloved melodies of the Spanish and Latin American songbook.

Their repertoire is filled with romance, nostalgia and elegance, making it the perfect accompaniment to a leisurely Sunday gathering.

Few things pair better with a Sunday aperitif than live acoustic music, and Piccola Serenata's warm harmonies and beautifully crafted arrangements should provide exactly the right atmosphere for an unforgettable afternoon.

Whether you're a lifelong fan of traditional music or simply looking for a different way to spend your Sunday, this concert promises to deliver charm, emotion and plenty of memorable moments.

What makes these events particularly special is the venue itself. Over recent years, El Café de la Plaça has established itself as one of the most important independent cultural spaces in La Ribera. Thanks to the passion and vision of Enric Casassús, it has become a meeting place for musicians, artists, writers and music lovers alike.

Its programme regularly combines established performers with local talent, creating an environment where culture feels accessible, welcoming and deeply connected to the community. The upcoming performances by El Combo de La Lira and Piccola Serenata perfectly reflect that philosophy. Two events. Two very different musical journeys. One venue that continues to prove that great live music doesn't need an arena—it just needs the right people, the right atmosphere and a genuine love of culture.
