El Cafe

There’s something about a Friday night at El Cafe de la Plaça in Carcaixent that makes even the most ordinary gig feel like a proper occasion, and on Friday 9 October, Enric is turning the place over to Elena & Brothers amb Greg Izorfor an evening of blues, rock, soul and plenty of musical chemistry.

Front and centre is Greg Izor, bringing vocals and harmonica, alongside Elena Castejón on vocals and flute, José Luis Ulloa on bass and Josep Carbonell behind the drums. It’s an intriguing combination, with flute and harmonica sharing the frontline while guitar, bass and drums provide the muscle underneath.

And if you’ve been to El Cafe before, you already know the other ingredient that makes these nights work.The crowd! Enric has built something rather special at this little Carcaixent venue.

It feels less like turning up at a gig and more like walking into somebody’s favourite local bar where, inconveniently for your liver, there happens to be a cracking live band playing. Regulars, musicians, locals and curious newcomers all end up packed together, talking, drinking, eating and getting properly involved once the music kicks in.

That sense of community is a huge part of El Cafe’s charm, and Enric has become very good at putting the right people in the room at the right time!
