Femme R&B Night

If your idea of a perfect Friday night involves soulful vocals, scorching guitar solos and irresistible rhythm & blues, then Loco Club has the gig for you. On 3 July, one of Valencia's most respected live music venues will host an explosive double bill featuring Maria Carbonell Blues Mood and local favourites Los Fabulosos Blueshakers, with Quique Lledó keeping the party going with a DJ set afterwards.

Leading the night is Maria Carbonell Blues Mood, one of Spain's fastest-rising blues acts. Fresh from being crowned Best Emerging Blues Band in Spain and after reaching the finals of the European Blues Challenge, the group has built a reputation for electrifying performances that honour the great women of African-American blues and rhythm & blues while adding their own contemporary flair.

Fronted by the magnetic Maria Carbonell, whose rich, soulful voice has been described as "a voice to die for," the band channels the spirit of vintage New Orleans, where blues, swing and early rock 'n' roll first found their groove.

Sharing the bill are Valencia's own Los Fabulosos Blueshakers, veterans of the city's blues scene who have spent nearly two decades getting audiences dancing with their infectious blend of Chicago blues, Texas blues, jump blues and classic R&B.

Winners of the VII Concurso de Blues de la Societat de Blues de Barcelona, they're renowned for delivering high-energy performances packed with killer harmonica, swinging rhythms and feel-good grooves that never fail to ignite a crowd.
