La Pèrgola

Midday in Valencia is about to get loud! While most of the city is easing into vermut hour, Aurora & The Betrayers and Helen Helen will be tearing open the sky at Concerts de La Pèrgola — and they’re doing it from 12pm sharp. Yes, this is a lunchtime concert. Sun high. Drinks cold. Volume up.

There’s something deliciously rebellious about blasting deep, groove-heavy soul while the clock barely nudges past midday. Aurora & The Betrayers bring a sound rooted in soul but laced with rock, pop and folk — vintage in spirit, contemporary in execution, and completely free of nostalgia. Since Shadows Go Away, they’ve made it clear that this is music with backbone. Songs about love, scars, injustice and hard decisions, carried by a voice widely regarded as one of the finest in Spain. Aurora doesn’t just sing — she testifies. And in the brightness of early afternoon, that emotional weight somehow hits harder. Expect warm brass tones cutting through winter sun. Expect grooves that feel like late-night confessions — delivered before you’ve even finished your second drink. It’s soul music for the daylight hours, rich and unfiltered.

And just when you think you’ve settled into a civilized aperitivo atmosphere, Helen Helen kick the table over.

Honor (vocals) and Monty (drums — “bataka” and proud of it) arrive like a controlled explosion. From the first hit, it’s pure ignition. Rock, punk, country, ska and reggae collide in a set built on sweat, speed and instinct. Broken strings. Flying sticks. Zero moderation. There’s no easing into this one. At 12pm, they’re already at full throttle.

There’s something uniquely electric about live music in broad daylight. No hiding behind darkness. No late-night haze. Just bands, crowd and sky. The open-air pulse of La Pèrgola turns this into more than a gig — it’s a Saturday ritual with bite. So cancel your quiet lunch plans. Swap the background playlist for front-row energy. Because when the amps fire up at midday, Valencia won’t just be waking up. It’ll be wide awake!
