Forget sitting still. Alabama’s eight-piece soul sensation St. Paul & The Broken Bones are heading to Valencia on 12 November, bringing a full-throttle blend of gospel, funk, rock ’n’ roll and irresistible Southern soul to the Auditorio Roig Arena.

If your idea of a great night out involves brass that hits you in the chest, grooves that get straight into your bloodstream and a frontman who pours every ounce of himself into a performance, this is one for the diary. St. Paul & The Broken Bones have built their reputation on electrifying live shows, and Valencia is next in line for a taste of their musical magic.

Formed in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2011, the eight-piece outfit have spent more than a decade carving out their own territory in modern soul. Led by the extraordinary vocals of Paul Janeway, the band combines the spirit of classic Southern soul with the punch of rock, the swagger of funk and the uplifting power of gospel. This is music with grit, heart and a whole lot of attitude.

At the centre of the action is Janeway, whose soulful delivery and theatrical stage presence give the band its unmistakable identity. Around him, a formidable lineup featuring guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, trumpet, trombone and saxophone creates a rich, full-bodied sound that can swing from intimate and heartfelt to gloriously explosive.

Their reputation has taken them onto stages alongside The Rolling Stones, Lizzo and Black Pumas, as well as major festivals including Glastonbury, Coachella and Lollapalooza. Those credentials tell their own story: St. Paul & The Broken Bones are a band capable of commanding a stage and winning over a crowd.

The Valencia show comes as the band tour their sixth album, St. Paul & The Broken Bones. Recorded at the legendary FAME Studios and produced by Eg White, whose credits include Adele and Celine Dion, the record sees the group reconnecting with their soul-driven roots while pushing into more adventurous musical territory.

Psych-funk grooves, gospel-infused ballads and cinematic rock flourishes run through the album, with tracks such as Sushi and Coca-Cola and Going Back showcasing a band unafraid to experiment while keeping its emotional centre firmly intact.

That combination makes their live show particularly appealing. This isn't soul music trapped behind glass or a nostalgia act recreating somebody else's golden era. It's a living, breathing sound, driven by musicianship, personality and the kind of rhythm that makes standing perfectly still feel like an impossible task.

Valencia, get ready to feel the rhythm

On Thursday, 12 November, the Auditorio Roig Arena will host an evening of Southern soul with serious muscle. Whether you're a longtime devotee of vintage R&B, a funk fanatic or simply someone who appreciates a band that knows how to deliver on stage, St. Paul & The Broken Bones offer something well worth discovering. Bring your dancing shoes. Leave your inhibitions at the door. Valencia is in for a soulful night.
