  • Visorfest 2024

Clear your calendars and break out your vintage band tees: Visor Fest 2024 is rolling into Murcia this September 27–28 , and it’s bringing with it two glorious nights of timeless indie, post-punk legends, and zero set clashes . That’s right— one stage, no overlaps , and all the sonic magic your soul can handle. If you've never been to Visor Fest, here's the pitch: Imagine the bands you obsessed over in the ‘80s and ‘90s finally getting the stage they deserve—no gimmicks, no rush, just pure, uninterrupted sets under the warm Spanish sky. Visor isn't a festival for the algorithm generation. It's for people who still believe in albums, B-sides, and guitar solos that last longer than your attention span. Friday, Sept 27 The Charlatans – Britpop royalty. Enough said. The Mission – Gothic swagger, cathedral-sized choruses. Camera Obscura – Scottish melancholia at its sweetest. Sad Lovers & Giants – Criminally underrated, eternally cool. Saturday, Sept 28 Kula Shaker – Psychedelic riffs and spiritual swagger. dEUS – Belgium’s art-rock titans finally touch down. Immaculate Fools – The romantics of the post-punk scene. Gigolo Aunts – Power pop perfection, and their final bow in Spain. Add in late-night DJ sets from DJ Amable , Pepe Lee , MEdj , and We Lost Control! , and you’ve got two nights of soundtracks for dancing, dreaming, and reliving your best misfit youth. This year’s edition relocates to Espacio Nueva Condomina , just outside central Murcia. It’s a switch-up from previous editions at La Fica, but the spirit stays the same: laid-back, open-air, and built for audiophiles—not TikTokers. For more information and tickets: Visorfest

  • Simple Minds

There   are   some   bands   that   stand   the   test   of   time   and   whose   songs   never   go   out   of   style,   but   instead   become   legendary.   " Simple   Minds "   is   one   of   them,   without   a   doubt,   that   has   legendary   status. On   July   20   they   performed   at   the   Plaza   de   Toros   in   Alicante,   as   part   of   the   " Goldest   Legends "   series   of   events. They   started   with   "Waterfront"   and   Jim   Kerr,   Charlie   Burchill   and   the   band   had   the   crowd   that  filled the   venue   singing   along   before   the   first   verse   ended.   The   entire   performance   was   incredible,   but   the   standout   songs   were   "Mandela   Day"   and   "Don't   You   (Forget   About   Me),"   which   the   band   ended   up   with   before   coming   back   out   for   a   three-song   encore,   starting   with   "Book   Of   Brilliant   Things,"   followed   by   "See   The   Lights,"   and   ending   with   the   iconic   "Alive   and   Kicking." The   whole   event   was   flawless,   Jim   Kerr   had   the   voice   and   energy   of   someone   half   his   age   and   Charlie   Burchill   played   as   amazing   as   ever.   It's   hard   to   believe   that   the   band   has   been   active   since   1977.   The   original   duo   has   seen   many   other   band   members   come   and   go   over   the   past   47   years,   but   I   think   the   current   lineup   with   Ged   Grimes,   Sarah   Brown,   Gordy   Gouldie   and   Cherrise   Osei   is   the   strongest   yet. • The Cult

On Sunday, July 14th, the legendary British band " The Cult " played at the Jardins De Vivers. The concert was one of many that were offered within the framework of this year's Conciertos De Viveros .   Being the same night as the Euro 2024 final between England and Spain, the crowd that packed the venue was very lively when I arrived. The band came out 25 minutes late, but that didn't matter, as it gave the Spanish fans time to see Spain score an early goal against England.   With the stage freshly smudgedwith burning sage, The Cult kicked off their performance with "I n The Clouds " and followed up directly with " Rise ", which had the entire audience singing along.   In 30-degree heat, Ian Astbury looked as cool as the proverbial cucumber on stage, tossing his tambourine into the audience after "Wild Flower" before continuing with another (which magically appeared out of nowhere!).   Giving her voice a break midway through the concert, fans were treated to an acoustic version of " Edie " before continuing with the classic " Sweet Soul Sister ."   At that time, Spain had beaten England 2-1 to win the European Championship final. An enthusiastic crowd sang along for the rest of the concert, smiles of joy and pride. As the band played their latest song, " Love Removal Machine ," the sky lit up with fireworks in Valencia.   Thanking the audience and leaving the stage, the band returned to deafening applause for an encore: " Brother Wolf, Sister Moon ," followed by the epic " She Sells Sanctuary ."   The crowd went wild. As we say in English football: "They think it's all over – it is now!!" More information on the amazing Conciertos De Viveros events: Here Words and photos: Rhyan Paul
