- The Dandy Warhols
On Sunday, May 11, psychedelic rock band The Dandy Warhols celebrated Mother’s Day at Anthology in Rochester. The music hall pulsated from the resonance of bass as the band played music from their thirty year career. Projecting a complex sound that is elevated from their studio albums. As if they were drafting love letters to the audience as they performed their unique sonic experience. From my perspective it appeared as if each band member was channeling as they created in harmony as a band. Magically playing their instrument and occasionally looking at each other and the audience. Reverb sang and echoed through the hall as a solitary sound as the band transitioned into the next songs or gathered equipment. In the dark hall, strobe lights back lit the band as heavy haze filled the room. Transporting the audience to a personal out of body experience as they transcendentally experience the sound. Only having to come back to earth afterwards. The Dandy Warhols released their twelfth studio album Rockmaker in 2024. Within their thirty year career the band has been a backdrop to international culture. In 1997 their song Bohemian Like You was featured in a Vodafone commercial and in 2004 the band was featured in documentary movie Dig! Set list: Ride, Best Friend, TV Theme Song, Nothing To Do, Plan A, Be Alright, Summer of Hate, I Love You, I’d Like To Help You With Your Problem, Search Party, Used To Be Friends, Styggo, They’re Gone, Mohammed, Godless, Every Day Should Be a Holiday, Get Off, Bohemian Like You, Pete International Airport / Boys Better. https://youtube.com/shorts/QzFfRXb15tU?si=4hpyOZ51V1I70h1r Words and photos: Bethany Couture

- Superheaven
Superheaven Brings 90s Nostalgia to a Packed Emo's in Austin Texas! A four-band bill on a Thursday can be a lot, especially for someone hoping to be somewhat productive at work the next day. But I committed to watching the whole show and got to Emo's at what I thought was early. For Superheaven's return to Austin last week, the six o'clock door time didn't stop fans from snagging all the valuable parking spots around the building. (Quick Pro Tip - they boot if you park by the AutoZone.) Philly's Prize Horse kicked things off, and honestly, they're exactly the kind of band you want opening a show like this. The crowd was already locked in by the time Spy hit the stage, bringing that intense "how the hell are they not dead tired after five minutes?" energy. I'll admit—I was not prepared for how much movement was happening on stage. I just sat there mesmerised for a good chunk of their set. Then came Glare, who could have headlined this whole thing. They're one of those bands that have been popping up in my algorithm for the last year, but at this show, it became apparent how far behind I'd been. Instant fan conversion that night. When Superheaven finally took the stage—name blazing on the screen behind them in case you forgot which show you paid for—you could feel this collective exhale moment ripple through the crowd. Here's a band that was silent for nearly a decade, and yet everyone lost their minds when they launched into "Youngest Daughter." It's hard to describe their sound but it's also instantly recognizable. They just sound like themselves—big, loud, and reminiscent of those days when we had CD binders and would flip through them looking for the right album to fit the vibe. Check them out next time they're in town. Find Superheaven at the following: Instagram, Youtube, and their own website of course. Their latest album is streaming everywhere you scroll for music. From the 20th to 29th June, you can enjoy Orishas, Mar Electronic, Basto Festival, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Wilco and much more! Nits Voramar: concerts and dance by the sea with international presence The youngest of the two cycles, Nits Voramar, is already consolidated in its second edition as a consolidated event that is strongly committed to the international presence and that this year is held between June 20 and 27, again at the North Marina Auditorium of La Marina de València. Orishas (Friday, June 20), will be in charge of inaugurating the cycle this year with their unique fusion of Cuban son and rap and their show that has conquered the five continents, "Represent Cuba" and that can only be enjoyed in the Valencian Community in Nits Voramar. Another thematic event will be the Basto Festival (Friday, June 27), the largest festival created by the Spook club with two stages, one with a programming of Hard Groove, Hard Techno and Acid Techno and the other by the hand of INVADERS!. Fantasm, Gea, Clara Cuvé, The Whistlers, Vendex, Korsakoff, Henrique Camacho, Stroc, Lucía Gea or Charly Sparks are some of the confirmations. On Saturday, June 28, the Scottish brothers The Jesus and Mary Chain will celebrate with the Valencian public their 40th anniversary marked by a rebellious and anarchic spirit, in a concert where they will sound both hymns that fuse guitars with electronics, as well as the songs of their latest release "Glasgow Eyes" where they have dared to experiment with jazz. Along with them, there will also be the Valencian formation Humanian, whose music has influences from the best bands of the 80's; and the closing of the night will be put by the founding member of the Valencian electronic music formation Megabeat and resident DJ of the Spook Factory room, Fran Lenaers. The Chicago band Wilco (Sunday, June 29) has chosen Nits Voramar to present in our city "Cousin", their thirteenth studio work in which Jeff Tweedy and his explore new musical universes, without losing their virtuosity based on experimental rock, folk and indie. - The Pretenders
The inauguration of Nits Voromar kicked off in style on Sunday June 16th, at the North Marina Auditorium, in Valenica Marina - with a performance by The Pretenders and Introglycerina. Chrissie Hynde (the only remaining member of the original lineup and definitely the most memorable) took centre stage - with thigh length white boots and her iconic style, she looked every bit the rock star she is! The concert was sold out and the crowd sang along to memorable classics including: "Don't Get Me Wrong", "I'll Stand By You" and "Middle Of The Road" with and emotional encore of "Brass In Pocket" With Hynde´s energy and passion resonating throughout the auditorium from start to finish - this was the perfect way to kick off three nights of incredible concerts. I have a feeling Nits De Voromar will become a firm fixture on the Valencia festival calendar. You can find out more about the events here: Nits Voromar Words & Photos: Rhyan Paul

The inauguration of Nits Voromar kicked off in style on Sunday June 16th, at the North Marina Auditorium, in Valenica Marina - with a performance by Introglycerina and The Pretenders. Introglycerina kicked off proceedings and soon had the crowded hyped up and singing along. Wait a minute - I recognise the singer... Isn't he? Yes he is! That is José Manuel Casañ with the other original members Cristobal Perpiñá, Julián Nemesio and Emilio Doceda from Seguridad Social. A fantastic night of music, a great location, great vibes, all under a setting sun - what more could you ask for? You can find out more about the events here: Nits Voromar Words & Photos: Rhyan Paul Introglycerina In 2022 on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the release of the album Introglycerina, the four members of the band (José Manuel Casañ, Cristobal Perpiñá, Julián Nemesio and Emilio Doceda) who recorded the album got together again. The result of the meeting was two concerts in room 16 Toneladas, on January 28 and 29, 2022, with tickets sold out for both concerts. To give a nostalgic touch to the concert, ticket prices were published in pesetas. Among the songs that sounded are: Que te voy a dar, No Es fácil ser Dios, Soy un salmón or Condenado a vivir. Weeks later a third concert was closed, setting the date for February 12, in the Paberse Club room. When tickets were sold out, and given the demand for tickets, a second date was scheduled at the same place, for April 2. On February 19 of that same year, the band's meeting moved to Madrid for a concert at Gruta 77. A month later (March 19), in Castellón, the concert meeting was held at Salatal Club. In all concerts they had Los Radiadores as opening acts, in addition to Star Mafia at the Madrid concert.
