On 7th June, I headed back to Zulú Klub in Aldaia for another awesome night packed with musical talent, featuring two killer bands: Dreem Ripper and The Third Grade. Opening the night, Dreem Ripper brought the heat with their groove/hardcore metal. From the first riff, the crowd was totally into it — moshing, headbanging, and vibing hard. But the set also had its emotional high point when Alba — the band’s newest member on guitar and occasional vocals — took the mic and sang a heartfelt piece. In a magical moment, the room lit up with phone flashlights as everyone soaked it in. Then it was The Third Grade's turn to take the stage. Led by frontwoman María, the band returned to Zulú to present their brand-new EP "Quadrivium: Resonances" and also treated us to songs from their earlier releases. La Mala Rodríguez took the stage at Viña Rock 2025 with the confidence of someone who no longer needs to prove herself, but still has plenty to say. Just after 10 p.m., the lights dimmed and the first beat dropped. As soon as she launched into “Tengo un trato,” the crowd lit up, responding instantly as if they’d been waiting years for that moment. The atmosphere was charged — not just with anticipation, but with a deep-rooted respect for a figure who’s become a cornerstone of Spanish rap. Over the course of just over an hour, La Mala delivered a well-curated set that balanced old favorites with newer material. Tracks like “La niña,” “Por la noche,” and “Quién manda” landed with the weight of familiarity and relevance. These songs may belong to the early 2000s, but their impact hasn’t faded. At the same time, newer releases showcased her ongoing evolution as an artist — pushing forward while staying true to her roots. The set flowed seamlessly, with no dips in energy or unnecessary filler. The stage setup was minimal but effective. No elaborate visuals, no backing dancers — just a DJ, solid production, and La Mala at the center. Her presence was commanding without being theatrical. There’s a natural authority in the way she delivers each verse: sharp, rhythmic, deliberate. Every movement, every pause felt intentional. She didn’t need to shout to be heard — the weight of her words did the work. Between songs, she kept her words brief but meaningful. A few thank-yous, a couple of sharp observations, and a spontaneous moment when she invited two fans onstage to dance with her. It didn’t feel like a gimmick; it was a small, real gesture that underlined her connection to her audience — especially to the women in it. Technically, the show was tight. Sound levels were clean, her vocals sat comfortably above the beats, and the set pacing left no room for distraction. Everything was focused where it needed to be: on the music, on the performance, on her. At a festival dominated by guitars, distortion and punk energy, La Mala Rodríguez reminded everyone that hip hop belongs here too — not as a guest, but as a pillar. Her set didn’t rely on spectacle, but on substance. And that substance — lyrical, rhythmic, emotional — was more than enough. Her performance at Viña Rock 2025 stood out not through volume or spectacle, but through its clarity and precision. The night of May 2nd, Viña Rock witnessed one of its most emotional and powerful moments of the entire festival. After years of absence and amid their long-awaited comeback tour, La Raíz returned to the stage in Villarrobledo with a performance that felt like both a celebration and a statement. Frontman Pablo Sánchez, recently open about his battle with cancer, took the stage to chants of “¡Pablo, Pablo, Pablo!” echoing through the main grounds before the band played a single note. From the moment they launched into “A la sombra de la sierra,” it was clear this wasn’t going to be just another festival set. The crowd, packed and ready, sang every word, jumping in sync with the relentless rhythm. The band played for over 90 minutes, delivering a tight, energetic set that pulled heavily from their most iconic work. Songs like “Muérdeles,” “Entre poetas y presos,” “La voz del pueblo,” and “Suya mi guerra” all made the cut, each one met with thunderous response. This wasn’t just about nostalgia. It was about reaffirmation — of identity, of purpose, of resilience. Pablo’s presence on stage was powerful without being dramatic. He was visibly moved at points, offering few but heartfelt words, letting the music — and the crowd’s reaction — speak volumes. The band, well-rehearsed and sharp, delivered with confidence and emotional weight. The horn section gave their trademark sound its punch, and the balance between ska, rock and protest-song energy was seamless. The sound mix was solid, allowing Pablo’s vocals to sit clearly above the band, with dynamic highs and no technical hiccups. For the audience, it felt like a long-overdue reunion — a collective release. At a festival known for its political undertones and energy-driven performances, La Raíz’s return felt especially significant. They didn’t just come back to play songs — they came back to reclaim their space and re-establish a dialogue with the people who have carried their message all these years. Closing with “Radio Clandestina” and “El tren Huracán,” the set ended on a high that left the crowd shouting for more. On the evening of May 31, 2025, the Jardines de Viveros in Valencia came alive with the vibrant sounds of La Fúmiga, The Tyets, and Naina during the Nits de Vivers festival. This event, part of a series running from May 29 to June 8, showcased a fusion of musical genres, creating an unforgettable experience for attendees. Naina opened the evening with a captivating performance characterised by minimalist pop arrangements and introspective lyrics.Their music, marked by delicate instrumentation and emotive vocals, provided a serene and reflective end to the night’s festivities. The Tyets, the dynamic duo from Mataró, followed with a performance that highlighted their innovative “trapetón” style—a mix of trap and reggaeton infused with Mediterranean influences. Their set featured tracks from their acclaimed album Épic Solete, including the hit “Havia de passar,” a collaboration with La Fúmiga that has garnered over 10 million streams. On May 30, 2025, the Jardins de Vivers in Valencia became the epicentre of Spanish rock with the Presentacion de Pirata Beach Festival, part of the Nits de Vivers series of events. The event brought together four iconic bands: Los de Marras, Sons of Aguirre & Scila (SOAS), El Último Ke Zierre (EUKZ), and Porretas, offering a night full of energy and activism. El Último Ke Zierre, offered a repertoire that ranged from classics to more recent tracks, opened the evening, immediately connecting with the local crowd. Porretas followed with their festive style and carefree lyrics, getting the audience singing along to every song. Sons of Aguirre & Scila brought their fusion of rap and metal, standing out for their social critique and provocative stage performance.
