David Bowie

Ten years on, David Bowie remains gloriously unavoidable — and on April 30, Valencia will stop, look up, and sing along. The Roig Arena hosts “Homenaje a David Bowie: 10 Años Sin Bowie”, a one-night tribute that brings together a hand-picked collective of Valencian musicians to celebrate the restless genius, songs and shapes that Bowie left behind.

This is not a jukebox impersonation or a wigs-and-warpaint pastiche. Instead, the show is built around respectful reinterpretation — artists with deep roots in Spanish pop and rock revisiting Bowie’s catalogue with personality and purpose. Expect a journey through his most iconic eras and anthems, delivered by musicians connected to bands such as Presuntos Implicados, Seguridad Social, Glamour, Comité Cisne, Falsa Pasión, Sunken Screens and Licence to Blow — a one-off line-up assembled specifically for this tribute.

The choice of venue matters. Roig Arena, Valencia’s new large-scale auditorium, has quickly positioned itself as the city’s home for ambitious, high-production cultural events — and this tribute fits that vision perfectly. Bowie’s music was never small, never static, never safe; it demands space, light and collective energy, all of which the Roig Arena is designed to deliver.

The timing, too, carries weight. Coming just months after the tenth anniversary of Bowie’s passing, the concert serves as both remembrance and reaffirmation — a reminder that his songs, characters and constant reinvention still ripple through modern music and culture. From glam provocateur to art-rock visionary, Bowie’s influence remains a living force, not a museum piece.

For fans old enough to remember the shock of Ziggy and young enough to have discovered Blackstar first, this promises to be a shared moment — communal, emotional and loud. One night. One icon.Valencia, under the starman.
