Simple Minds

This July 19th, the Plaza de Toros de Murcia—normally the haunt of matadors and sun-struck aficionados of the cape—will trade its bulls for bombast, as none other than Simple Minds take the ring for Murcia On.

The Glasgow giants who once told us to "Don't You (Forget About Me)" are here to make sure we never had the chance. With a back catalogue so gloriously over-the-top it makes a cathedral organ sound like a kazoo, Simple Minds will deliver the kind of anthemic uplift that could put wings on a stone.

Expect soaring synths, grandiloquent guitars, and Kerr's ever-sermonic vocals echoing off the stone walls like a prophet in Ray-Bans. The old hits will surely be there—"Alive and Kicking", "Promised You a Miracle", and the rest—but don’t be surprised if the band drops a few newer numbers that remind us they've not yet slipped quietly into the night.

So polish your boots, tune your ears, and prepare for an evening of unabashedly epic Scottish pop—served under the Spanish stars, with a side of sangria and a resounding olé.

Tickets? Flying faster than a flamenco dancer’s feet. Get them before they vanish in a synthy haze. For more information and tickets: Murcia On
