Yungblud | August 30, 2025 | ACL Live Theater

I’ll admit that until June, my Yungblud knowledge was limited to his Kiss cover in The Fall Guy. Then his viral "Changes" performance at Ozzy's farewell show sent me down the rabbit hole.

But what finally pushed me over the edge was Nikki Phillips' photos of him on top of the Hollywood Palladium marquee. The shot was a throw back to an era of classic rock in an era that hardly produces them. But the question still on my mind was could the actual performance live up?

It didn’t take long on Saturday night to get my answer. Dominic Harrison hit the ACL Live stage with an energy that was easily recognizable. The Jagger strut, the Iggy Pop swagger, the Sid Vicious sneer. He’s fluent in the language of rock’s past but there is a fine line between homage and cosplay. But just as quickly as you identified the influences, the performance turned into something completely unique.

The show delivered. Frenetic and chaotic, energy at eleven for the full hour and a half. Harrison engaged the audience the entire night, asking them to open up the pit and demanding shoulder rides from his fans. He also went full Iggy Pop, going into the crowd to stand above everyone. It was just one of several iconic moments that night. The night ended with one more. A kid in the crowd holding a “My First Concert” sign was pulled onstage as the closer “Zombie” was playing. Dominic hoisted the kid on his shoulders, sang the last verse and gave an unscripted and unforgettable moment to the young fan.

When Ozzy told Yungblud to "conquer America," it sounded like hyperbole. Saturday night proved otherwise.
